Year 1 wb 23.3.15
Date: 27th Mar 2015 @ 2:21pm
Another super week in Year 1.
We have had parent's evening, so hopefully we have lots of happy Mums and Dads and very proud children!
In Literacy, we have been interviewing alien experts, investigating a crash landing site and writing newspaper reports. The children have enjoyed looking through the CBBC Newsround website. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/news We have been innovating our story maps. The children have begun to make up instructions for their aliens.
In Numeracy, we have been learning about direction. We have learnt our left from our right and followed orders like robots. We also learnt how to find coordinates and followed clues to plot things in space. This is a good website for the children to play on at home to support their direction work ... http://primary.naace.co.uk/startower/unit/index.htm
Yesterday we had a lovely surprise because Mr Capewell from the high school came in to teach us PE. Our PE skill was 'TEAMWORK!'. We were set lots of challenges that needed fantastic team work to help us solve them.
In Music, Mrs Taylor taught us about percussion instruments. We played the instruments to add effect to a song. Miss Phillips was blown away! (One Direction could find a new band member easily in Year 1!)
I have uploaded our Easter homework early so the children can get thinking about their project. The homework is due back in school on Monday 20th April.
Don't forget we have our Easter Service on Thursday 2nd April at St Oswald's Church. Hope to see you all there!
