Year 6 w/b 7/3

Date: 7th Mar 2022 @ 5:18pm

The week began with a thoughtful assembly presented by the Year 6 Ethos council. We are continually challenging the children  how to build God's Kingdom on Earth and are encouraging kindness in all that we say or do. As such, we have introduced kindness tokens in our class.

On Monday, we followed the blood's journey through our bodies as we continued our learning on the circulatory system. The children had great fun tracing around a team member and then observing and drawing the system and its essential parts. This was continued on Friday when we all checked our resting and active heart rates- something that brought Mr McAulay in from Year 3 wondering if a herd of elephants was taking over the school.

On Wednesday, the netball team played spectacularly in the local tournament. A huge well done to them! Look out for them in the newsletter. And Jess came second in a horse trial at the weekend and returned to school with a rosette, something we are becoming quite used to where she is concerned!

Today, Friday, we finished our diary entry writing based on our text, Rose Blanche. We were impressed by the maturity and co-operation shown by everyone as they paired up to discuss and edit their work. Some great writing this week, Year 6.

In Maths, we completed our work on Area and Perimeter, having covered triangle and parallelograms. We have also been reminding ourselves of the properties of a cuboid and also how to work out the volume. This has brought us back to cubed numbers as a result.

Our certificates for the week celebrated two children, Ben and Harry, who have shown true School Values this week through their friendship. The theme of Kindness and Friendship tied in well with Ethos Council's focus.

As the week drew to a close, we counted our kindness tokens and found it heartwarming that, in Year 6 alone, there have been 54 acts of kindness. What the world needs now!
