Year 6 26.01.24

Date: 26th Jan 2024 @ 3:51pm

Monday 22nd January 2024

On Monday, we started learning algebra for the first time and it was quite tricky. We also started writing our plan about refugees and it was actually pretty fun and easy! In the afternoon we had P.E and played basketball and everyone enjoyed it.

On Tuesday we learned about My Happy Mind and looked at our five unique strengths and how they helped us to do every day things and make new friends. Then we did maths and we were doing function machines which is part of our algebra unit. Then we did guided reading and read the explorer and predicted that there was going to be a plane crash. After guided reading, we moved on to English and started writing our news paper report about refugees. After English, we did revision on division and multiplication.

On Wednesday we continued with our RE unit of the Eucharist and Holy Communion. We thought about why people would have Holy Communion and what it means to Christians. We also spoke about how beliefs are different between each person and the bread and wine can mean different things.

On Thursday we started to publish our newspaper reports and looked at substitution in maths – we are getting much better at it! Then we had music and computing with Mrs Taylor in the afternoon and looked at soundtracks to famous films.

On Friday we finished our newspaper reports – we are very proud of them! Then we had forest school and build rafts, just like the characters in Story like the wind did. We had a nice afternoon of art and created a pop art alphabet.

Have a lovely weekend from Lola and Chloe
