Year 5 w/b 9th October

Date: 12th Oct 2023 @ 8:13pm

We had a super start to the week visiting Chester Cathedral. We toured the cathedral learning about it's history, heard about pilgrimage, thought about what is special to us, heard the organ and completed creative workshops. The children are desperate to bring their work home, but we would like to display it for a while so we have included photographs instead!
In English the children have planned their instruction manuals for mystical deliveries in the Whispering Woods. I'm slightly concerned about the huge amount of scary dangers they were able to imagine - but they did have a solution for each! Apparently I can simply feed the bloodthirsty wolves chocolate. It will upset their stomach and I'll be fine.
in PE the children practised their netball skills. They practised dodging and defending. Mr McAulay was again impressed with their skill.
In their SCARF lesson this week children focussed on what people post online. They learned that this is not always true, or not an accurate reflection.
In art children developed their sketches to add colour. They used their original drawing and then included ourselves in the artwork in the style of Adam Oehlers.
In RE, William Pulle came to speak to us about how the Bible influences his life. The children had lots of questions and it was lovely to hear about his thoughts and experiences as a young Christian.
We have lots to look forward to next week; including a DT sewing day next Wednesday. This means PE will be Monday afternoon - please could children wear their kit on Monday rather than Wednesday.
We hope all the children have a lovely weekend - and children are feeling much better next week!
