Year 3 WC 6th March 2017

Date: 5th Mar 2017 @ 9:06pm

What a start to the half term with our fantastic trip to the Dewa Roman Experience on Tuesday. The children really enjoyed it and learnt so much about the Romans.

In literacy we used drama to explore our new text, Adventures at Sandy Cove, which is about two boys who found a box of jewels in a cave on the beach. However I much prefer some of the children's ideas about what could have been in the box...we had suggestions of old letters, Roman weapons, postcards, ancient artefacts and also lots of imaginative ideas about how they may have ended up in the cave! This week we will be begin to innovate the story by writing it from a point of a view of a different character.

In maths we are revisiting fractions. This will include adding/subtracting fractions, ordering fractions, finding fractions of quantities and solving problems.

We are starting our new Science unit this week on light understanding that we need light in order to see. We'll be investigating different light sources, thinking about which produce the most/least light and how we can test this.

In RE, our unit this half term is Salvation. Our key question is 'Why do Christians call the day Jesus died 'Good' Friday?' We'll use drama to retell the story of Holy Week and discuss Mary's feelings at different points.
