Year 3 Safer Internet Day lesson

Date: 7th Feb 2017 @ 4:21pm

Today is Safer Internet Day so we discussed how we can stay safe online. The children already knew lots of ways of keeping themselves safe such as keeping passwords a secret, not sharing personal information and being wary of who they're speaking to when online.

Today we explored how photographs shared online could have a lasting impression. We compared how photos are easily shared now online whereas before the internet, photo albums would be shared amongst close friends and family.

We looked at some images in Kagan partners and made first impressions based on what we thought. Then we thought about what might have happened before and after the pictures were taken which might change our first impressions.

Finally we came up with some top tips for sharing images online.

1. Always ask permission of who is in the photo.

2. Is it appropriate?

3. Am I happy for this photo to be shared with people I don't know?

4. Is this the impression I want to make?
