Year 3 blog 6th January. Happy New Year!

Date: 6th Jan 2023 @ 3:37pm

We have had a super week back in Year 3! I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

Homework starts again next week- set on Monday (including spellings) and due the following Monday. PE is now on Tuesday and Wednesday this half term; Forest School is now on Fridays.

English

In English we ventured into the forest and found some peculiar clues: breadcrumbs, a witch’s dress, a red cape, a basket and various other items. We thou8ght about who had left them, and Mrs Sant found some footage from the CCTV which indicated that a witch-like-figure may have been in our forest! Later in the week, we asked questions, made predictions and wrote sentences using inverted commas and expanded noun phrases.

Maths

In Maths, we have been dividing and multiplying using the 4 times table; next week we will  move onto the 8 times tables! Please practise 3s, 4s and 8s if you would like to at home.

Other areas

In PE we have been learning how to move the ball and how to dribble using our finger pads and keeping the ball near our hip when it bounces in basketball. In RE, we have been learning about forgiveness and how Jesus showed forgiveness in various bible stories such as when he was betrayed and arrested. In art, we were sketching flowers in the style of Georgia O’Keefe. We have also been looking at our school values and doing some work related to these. The children recognised how important friendship is and how showing compassion and kindness is important.
