Y4 Residential to York

Date: 7th May 2022 @ 7:21pm

Year 4 have had a wonderful three days in York.

Their visit started with a guided tour of the city with Keith and it was lovely to see key landmarks and learn about the history of York.  Our tour finished at an ice cream shop so it would have been a shame not to indulge!  After a lovely dinner, we enjoyed playing on the racecourse before heading off to bed.

On day two, we visited the Jorvik Dig and had lots of fun looking for clues about the past, before learning about Viking battle tactics.  Following a quick lunch, we visited the Yorvik museum and journeyed back in time.  The children loved the exhibition (and the gift shop!).  After a quick stop at the Railway Museum to burn off some energy at their playground, we walked back along the walls to the Minster where we attended Evensong.  The children behaved impeccably and received lots of compliments from members of the public and the clergy.  After another delicious dinner, the children were keen to head to bed!

For our final day, we walked back to the Minster and Mr Cotton, Mrs Pirie and Mrs Wiggs conducted a tour (they had clearly done their homework!).

Thank you to the Stableside for their wonderful hospitality and to the staff at the Minster, the Yorvik, the Railway Museum and Exploring York for sharing the wonder of York with us.

Well done to all of the children for their excellent behaviour and for embracing the experience fully.  It was a real pleasure to take them.
