Week beginning 15th May

Date: 20th May 2017 @ 4:12pm

Well done Year 2 you have completed all your SATS this week and done so with a smile. We have been so proud of the way in which you have worked through your maths, reading, spelling and SPaG papers and you have enjoyed showing us all how much you have learned since being in Reception. You certainly deserved the trip to the park for ice lollies on Friday afternoon and the photos are on the gallery page.

In literacy we have enjoyed finding out about pirate relatives and making Mrs Pullé's pirtae aunt chocolate crunch was great fun (  photos also on the gallery) As we recounted making the crunch we concentrated on using contractions, suffixes, commas and even included exclamation and question sentences.

Problem solving in maths was really useful as we were encouraged to use all 4 rules of number to solve the puzzles. Great team work was noted as we checked each others answers.

In science we explored  the life cycle of chickens , in PE we developed our batting skills in cricket and in RE we completed our focus on Baptism by considering why promises are made during such a service.

It was lovely to meet baby Elsie on Wednesday. Mr and Mrs McAulay brought her in at lunchtime to the great excitement of everyone, especially Year 2. Mr McAulay will be back in school on Monday.

We were sorry to wave goodbye to Miss Rigby on Friday but the great news is she will be returning to accompany us on our school trip to the Maritime Museum in Liverpool on Tuesday 4th July. More details about the trip will follow soon.

Next week we hope to undertake some planting in the school garden. If you have any spare vegetable plants they would be gratefully received.

Another lovely week.
