WC 19th June 2017

Date: 17th Jun 2017 @ 11:37pm

Last week the children completed their summer term assessments. I am very pleased with the hard-working and determined attitude of the children. They have done very well and should be proud of themselves. Well done, Year 3!

This week we have Art Brazil visiting us on Tuesday. I am sure this will be a brilliant morning filled with music and dancing. Check the website later in the week for photographs.

In maths this week, we are revisting fractions focusing particularly on finding fractions of amounts and tackling some problem solving.

In English we are continuing with The Varmints. I was particularly impressed with the figurative language the children were using in their setting descriptions last week. Ask them about similes, metaphors and personification. Wow! I was blown away!

In Science this week we are going to be setting up our own experiments into what plants needs to grow. The children will have to decide for themselves what they want to find out and decide in their group how they will go about investigating it. Then the children will make observations over the week, draw conclusions and present their results to the class.

In art, we are going to be continuing with our rainforest art. We'll be looking at the work of Henry Rousseau and using this as a basis of our own artwork.

For this week only, Mr Jones will be teaching PE all Monday afternoon and Miss Ashworth will be covering my PPA time on Wednesday afternoon. After this, PE will be every Wednesday afternoon only.
