Reception's Blog - Week beginning Monday 19th April
Date: 23rd Apr 2021 @ 4:06pm
Good afternoon everyone!
What a great first week of the summer term! It has been a lovely experience for me personally, to spend so much of it with the children in Reception, and both myself and Miss Wellings are really pleased about how hard the children have been working.
Highlight of the week is surely the visit of a ‘spaceman’ to the school, as it tied in so nicely with our topic this term. We have started our new Talk for Writing book ‘Star in the Jar’ this week and hopefully the children can retell some of the story to you over the weekend. We also explored floating and sinking on Tuesday, and were really surprised to discover that whilst apples float, pears sink! The children have done some excellent art this week with sequins as well as observational drawing - following instructions a step at a time. I hope that you enjoy the pictures below.
Next week in phonics we will be continuing with the ‘ea’ sound and starting work on ‘oi’ - a personal favourite! In literacy we will continue learning ‘Star in the Jar’ then begin adapting and innovating the story using story maps.
In maths we shall be extending our learning on addition by counting on numbers up to 20.
Finally, in topic the children will start designing their rocket, and learning about light and dark. PE remains on Wednesday, and Forest School on Friday - so lets hope this fine weather holds.
Enjoy the weekend, and we will look forward to seeing you on Monday.
