What a busy week we’ve had here in Reception!
First of all, a huge thank you to all who came along to support our successful Sports Day. It’s safe to say that Reception have been excited all week and have had the most fantastic afternoon. Each and every child made us both very proud with their exceptional behaviour and fantastic sportsmanship. Congratulations to Mars who were victorious.
In maths this week, we have had a strong focus on number bonds to 10, 20 and beyond. We’ve explored these using the giant abacus, counting beads and lots of other apparatus to help support our learning. The children are becoming more and more confident with their number bonds to 10 and this is wonderful as it’s one of their targets for the end of Reception. Mrs Baddeley, our new Year 1 teacher, shared this lesson with us and we loved getting to know her.
In literacy, we had a very important task given to us. We learnt of Paddington’s misfortune about how he’d lost his marmalade sandwiches so to help him out we wrote our very own instructions for him to follow. We then got the chance to put this into practice and made our very own – even getting to enjoy them on the carpet afterwards. Yum!
We had another action packed day on Thursday when the whole school took part in ‘Sport’s activity day’. This was to support our ‘Healthy Living week’ and it was a wonderful day full of smiles and sunshine. Reception got the opportunity to explore netball, yoga, dance and athletics.
We’ve not changed books or given out homework due to the children having had an extremely demanding week so please take this weekend to share your favourite stories and relax.
