Week 4...

The week started with some special activities to celebrate Burns Night.  We examined some traditional Scottish clothing, tried some haggis (well some of us did!) and created our own tartan pattern by weaving coloured card.  The highlight of our day was definitely the Scottish dancing.  Year 6 were on hand to help us and by the end of the session everyone was exhausted!  If you haven’t already seen the video in our Gallery please take a look.

In Maths this week we have been investigating number bonds.  We focussed on learning number bonds to 10 (1+9, 2+8, 3+7 etc.).  Knowing these off by heart will help us to solve other sums in our heads. If you would like to practise further at home why not try the games linked below?

During our Literacy session we have been looking at the story ‘The Bear Who Went Boo’ by David Walliams.  We had great fun acting out the story and asking the characters questions about what happened to them.

This weekend it is the RSPB Birdwatch so we have been on the lookout to see what birds we can spot at school.  We also made some bird cake to try and entice more birds in!

On Thursday Miss Nolan taught us about how to keep our teeth healthy.  The children have set up an experiment to find out which drinks are good for their teeth.  We look forward to seeing the results!

There was great excitement on Friday when we received a special delivery from the WWF…our very own polar bear!  We were all very excited and we felt very proud of ourselves.  The cake sale was a huge success so a big, big thank you for all of the cakes, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Have a lovely weekend!
