Ice balloons

Date: 7th Jun 2016 @ 1:29pm

In science this week, year 6 have been exploring ice balloons.

We have been testing the impact of different substances on the ice. Using things like vinegar, salt, sugar and food colouring we have noticed many exciting results. Why not tell your parents about these?

Your child has brought home a step by step guide on how to perform similar experiments it would be fantastic if they had a go with your help then they can teach you all they know about thinking scientifically (and it's great fun).

Have a think about the following:

  • How long did it take to freeze?
  • How long does it take to melt?
  • Does the size of the balloon make a different to these times?
  • Does the location of the ice melt it faster?

Bring your results into school with any pictures you have for our ice balloon display.
