Trentham Gardens Trip
Class: Year 1 Year: 2016 - 2017
What a fantastic day we have had at Trentham Gardens! We started the day with den building in the forest. The children were given the challenge to go away and use as many different resources as they could find to build a den for their teddies. The children used sticks, leaves and brambles to create a new home for their bears. They took into consideration the way the sun was facing to shade the bears, the size of the objects they found and what would ordinarily be found in a den. The instructor was so impressed with their skills that he gave the children the challenge of creating areas inside their dens, such as campfires.
After this we took a beautiful walk in the sunshine through to the play area where we had lunch. The children then had some free time to explore the sandpit and playground.
Early in the afternoon, each class set off on a walk on the bare foot trail. As you can see from the photos, the children were shocked by the feeling of many of the different textures, but it was great fun exploring them.
To finish our trip, each class chose a bear that they would like as their class bear in the next year. We now all have a new class bear and the children are extremely excited to share these with their new teacher.
