Year One Week Commencing 16th March 2020
Date: 19th Mar 2020 @ 3:00pm
It's been an unusual week! It was great to see you all at the parents consultations. Thank you for all of your support.
We have been rehearsing a poem for our Mothering Sunday service. It's such a shame we had to cancel but I'm sure your children can recite the poem to you. We also practiced "If I were a butterfly". If you find it on YouTube, your children will tell you which version and they will sing it and do the actions.
In maths, they loved the introduction to height and length. Everything in the classroom has been measured! In geography, we have learned about the Maasai tribe and their traditional African way of life, basic but colourful and lively! They made necklaces out of paper plates. The children wrote their stories this week about a character who searches for a creature, befriends it, then has to go home. This really showed their progress this term.
I have attached a suggested weekly timetable to this blog. This is for parents who have requested a structure for thier child's week, so there's no expectation that you need to stick to this. It will be good for the children to do regular work however so that they continue to practise what they have learned while they're at home. I will put daily English tasks and tasks for all other subjects on the pupil area of this website. They have brought their PowerMaths books home, so they have daily maths tasks for the next few weeks. Additional maths tasks will also be found on the pupil area if required. They also all have a phonics pack so that they can practice this. Again, i'll put other phonics homework ideas on the pupil area.
The pupil area is accessed via the school website under student login.
I hope you enjoy some home schooling.
Take care,
Mrs Baddeley
