Year One, week beginning 7th September
Date: 10th Sep 2020 @ 8:53pm
Our second week back at school has been full of excitement. This started with a hand delivered parcel containing a potions and spell book. This led us to read Rapunzel and make towers like the one she was trapped in. We thought about adjectives to describe a tower as well as nouns spotted in the story itself. Finally, we wrote about Rapunzel’s feelings in the tower and tried to use ‘and’ or ‘because’ to link and extend our sentences and thoughts. Please see photos attached to our class page.
In Maths , we have been extremely busy carrying out some baseline assessments. This led to activities based around a hundred square, finding missing numbers and writing teen numbers. Following this we have made our own 1-20 number lines and have started to explore sharing a number of objects between 2 , 3 and 4 groups.
Topic activities have included taking rubbings outside in our forest school, sorting objects and items in history from old to older and oldest using a picture timeline, outdoor games and considering who God is and reflecting upon what we already know about God from previous learning. Please also see photos and descriptions of our investigations in science uploaded to our class page.
In Collective worship , we have focused on Jesus the light of the world and Christians inspired by Jesus’ example. Such Christians have included Elizabeth Fry, Leonard Cheshire and William Wilberforce.
