Year One - Week Commencing 24th February 2020

Date: 28th Feb 2020 @ 5:55pm

We have had a great first week back! Mrs Pulle kindly made pancakes for us on Shrove Tuesday.  We also started a new unit in PE focussing on movement. We all seemed to enjoy this.

In maths, we have started working on numbers to 50 and we have been practising counting in 10's.  We asked ourselves "how many tens and how many ones are in 34?".

We have started our work on "There's a Tiger in the Garden".  We actually found a very muddy tiger paw print in the classroom on a piece of paper I had left there!  From this, we have written a description of Nora (the girl in the book) and the tiger and we have asked questions about where the tiger could be, using question marks when writing our questions.  In Art, we painted leaves for our wall display using shades of green.   In Science we became familiar with mammals and identified common characteristics of mammals.

In Geography, we looked on Google Earth to see how far we are from Africa and learned that Africa is a continent.  We will be looking at Kenya over the next few weeks.

I have sent spellings homework home in a yellow folder.  I'll ask all children to give these yellow folders in on Monday, into the homework drawer.

All children have received a named optional homework challenges sheet for this half term.

Have a great weekend.
