Year One - Week Commencing 18th November

Date: 21st Nov 2019 @ 8:32pm

We have started rehearsals for our Christmas production of Prickly Hay this week.  I'm sure the children will teach you all the songs!

We enjoyed a walk to St Oswald's Church today for our class service.  Thank you to the parents and grandparents who accompanied us.

The children really enjoyed testing their sense of smell in science.  They had to identify the following food items just by smell.....cinnamon, garlic, lemon juice, shower gel, banana, coffee and vinegar.

We 'dodged' each other in PE, after watching some rugby while we were getting changed to inspire us.

In maths, we are using the takeaway or subtraction sign and working out subtraction within 10.     In English, we continued to practise our Beegu actions to the story map so that children are very familiar with the story.  They wrote a letter to Mrs McLean asking that Beegu can remain at the school if she visits again. They are progressing well with their short burst writing.

All children are now aware of where they put their homework in the classroom.  I am reminding them each day in class so a prompt from home will also be appreciated.  This week they have spellings with the 'ee' and 'ea' sound following our phonics lessons.  They also have MyMaths homework.

Have a great weekend.
