Year One - Week commencing 14th October 2019
Date: 19th Oct 2019 @ 10:16pm
The children have been fantastic this week! They were fortunate enough to have extra time with Mrs Pulle due to my absence. They had fun writing instructions about how to escape a troll in English. They may have told you that there was a possible witch visit...she caused trouble in the classroom so we now need to write instructions about how to catch her. The new guided reading system is working very well for all children. There is a note in the reading diaries about this.
We practised the sounds a_e, ay and ai this week in phonics.
We all really enjoyed some Great Fire of London paintings, cutting out silhoettes of houses and mixing paints for shades of orange.
Thank you for your help with the village walk. The children did really well spotting human and natural features in the village and who can resist a play on the playground on the way back?! Their behaviour was outstanding.
On Friday 25th, there is a Traditional FairyTale dress up day for year one so I'm looking forward to seeing all of the costumes. Don't forget your pumpkins on 24th or 25th for special pumpkin activities. You should have received a letter from the Ethos Council about this.
All children took phonics/spelling homework home and will be set MyMaths on Monday. They have a week to complete this. Please remind your children to give it in as I may not see it in their locker/bag.
Can I please ask that children keep all toys and teddies at home, unless it's their birthday? This is becoming quite a distraction in class. Thank you for your understanding.
Have a great weekend.
