Year 6 w.b: 24.03.25

Date: 28th Mar 2025 @ 3:33pm

There has certainly been a buzz of excitement in Year 6 this week in preparation for the trip of the year…Pensarn!

We have however still managed to fit in lots of revision so we all feel ready and equipped in time for SATs.

In Maths, we revised fractions, decimals and percentages, we used conversion methods to find the equivalents of each.  Fractions, decimals and percentages all have equivalents of each other, so it is quite easy to compare and order them!  We just needed to remember that all you need to do is convert them into the same form.

In English, we published our balanced arguments about whether wolves should be reintroduced into the U.K.  We then revised how to write speech to advance the story using dialogue between two characters, which is an important skill for any writer within KS2 to use dialogue to advance action and convey character. Dialogue is a form of speech that takes place between two or more people. Often used in fiction writing to bring the characters to life.

In P.E, we completed our strength assessments.  We were timed running between two points, stretching our arms, jumping from a standing position and throwing and catching a ball.

In Science, we investigated the affects exercise has on our heart rates.  To begin with, we predicted what would happen, then measured our pulses with stop watches.  We continued to exercise and recorded the results along the way.

In Art, we used watercolours which are great for the luminosity of its transparent colours.  We used this water-based medium applied by a brush to create the most wonderful Mother’s Day Cards.  We hope you like them!

The children who have asked for a revision pack for over Easter will have brought one home today.  There is no expectation to complete it all, we would love you all to have a relaxing break but please do try to do some revision when you can.

Please make sure you pack all of the essential items your child will need for Pensarn and please don’t forget sandwich bags, lunch boxes and water bottles as we will need them each day.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
