Year 6 w.b: 16.12.24

Date: 19th Dec 2024 @ 12:10pm

Wow, what a term this has been, we are incredibly proud of each and every one of the children.

This week has been filled with all things design and technology. We designed a banner to promote reducing plastic in the ocean.  This unit is linked to the sustainable delevelopment goal 14: Life below water. The goal is aimed at avoiding and strongly reducing the pollution in the sea, especially from waste that comes from our land. Once we had designed our part of the banner, we cut fabric and used running stitch to apply the material, we also used an appliqué style to add more detail.

We talked about the true meaning of Christmas; we said of course we remember the birth of Jesus but we also said Christmas was about joy, peace and love.  We then watched the truce between the German and English soldiers where they enjoyed a football match on Christmas Day.  They put all their differences aside and showed true peace and harmony.  We then learnt the German version of Silent Night and sang in harmony: it was just beautiful.

A special visitor appeared at our window this week too; Minnie Mouse! We were thrilled to welcome her and wish her Merry Christmas.

We would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes, cards and Christmas gifts; we are truly overwhelmed and very thankful.

Merry Christmas everyone!
