Year 6 - 19th January
Date: 19th Jan 2024 @ 3:51pm
Hello everyone! This is what we did this week.
Monday
On Monday we read the text about Rami getting lost at sea and how bad the stormy weather was. In P.E we did tag rugby. We also did the other subjects like maths and English. We have been doing lots of work on punctuation too and recapping our maths topics.
Tuesday
On Tuesday, we had the NSPCC come to the class to talk about how to keep safe. We also did Spelling, Guided Reading and in English we looked at indirect and direct speech. In maths, we did scale factors and how to enlarge shapes.
Wednesday
On Wednesday, in English we pretended to be the characters from the story and were in the hot seat. People asked us questions about our feelings on the journey and how we felt when we needed to be rescued. In Maths we did problem solving and a little bit more scale factors. We also did Spelling and Guided Reading.
Thursday
We started to plan our newspaper report and made up some headlines, some of us used alliteration and some of us tried to use rhyming words. We came to the end of our maths unit so finished off answering ratio questions, it has been quite a hard unit!
In the afternoon we had music and computing with Mrs Tice and looked at how some machines worked.
Friday
Friday is our favourite day of the week as we get to go outside for forest school! It was so cold this morning but we had fun building our own structures and working in teams to gather the resources we needed.
When we came back inside, we completed our planning sheets ready to write our newspaper reports on Monday. We will include speech and all the information on our rescued person that we have gathered over all of our lessons.
This afternoon we have been working on word classes, looking at all the key groups and examples of each. Some of us had forgotten so we needed to do some research first!
Well done to Lucy who got our celebration assembly certificate for helping in the community.
It has been a very busy and cold week so we are all looking forward to our weekend. Don’t forget to do your homework.
