Year 5 WC 31st March 2025
Date: 3rd Apr 2025 @ 12:29pm
What a fantastic and busy week we've had in Year 5!
In Maths, we've been working hard to finish our unit on perimeter and area. We've tackled tricky problems involving rectangles and compound shapes.
In English, we've been putting our persuasive writing skills to the test by writing bargain letters to a thief. We had to encourage the thief to plant the acorns that were in the bag they had stolen, and help to make the city flourish once again. It has been wonderful to see the children applying their sentence accuracy work, using modal verbs, parenthesis, adverbs of possibiility and cohesive devices to improve their writing. They are also making good use of our toolkit by using features such as emotional language in their letters.
In RE, the children have produced some beautiful artwork to celebrate the resurrection. In an RE day, we explored how Christians celebrate Easter around the world, with a particular focus on Mexico, Germany, Ethiopia and Greece. We then created a video about how we celebrate Easter and we will be sending this to St Lwanga.
We wish you all a wonderful Easter!
