Year 5 WC 27th January
Date: 30th Jan 2025 @ 2:16pm
We had a very exciting start to the week with a visit from David Coleman, an ex-royal marine, who came into school to share his story. He spoke to us about building resillience and trying new things in order to achieve our full potential. David talked about the challenges he faces and the choices he had to make to get to where he is today. Sometimes he had to do things he didn't want to but knew he had to challenge himself in order to learn and grow. During his first tour of Afghanistan, David was hit by a grenade which led to him needing life-saving surgery. He was given the chance to go home once he had recovered, but he chose to stay with his squad who were depending on him and he wanted to continue helping people safely escape the war zone. He could have taken the easy option but he never did. The children were so inspired by David's story. Here are just a few of the quotes from the children in Year 5:
Also on Thursday next week, there will be no Forest School as Year 5 are taking part in a play leaders programme in the afternoon. Please can they come to school in their PE kit that day (as well as Wednesday).
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
