Year 5 WC 20th January
Date: 22nd Jan 2025 @ 3:05pm
We've had a very busy week in Year 5 with lots of new learning. In Maths we have started column multiplication- multiplying 2, 3 and 3 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers. This has proved quite tricky for many children but they have showed great resilience and perseverance. Please, please keep practising times tables as knowing these is invaluable.
In English, we have been analysing our example text understanding the structure and language features of a cliff-hanger narrative. We have also started planning our own cliff-hanger narrative based on The Hound of the Baskervilles.
In history, we learnt about the leader, Fu Hao, whose tomb was found undisturbed in 1976! We looked at the artefacts that were found such as cowrie shells, human sacrficies, jade and bronze objects, and thought about what they taught us about her and the Shang Dynasty.
On Thursday we went to church for our class service.
Next week we have our first face to face Singfest rehearsal at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School. We will be leaving school at 9am and returning at 11:45. Children need to remember their water bottle and small snack.
Have a great weekend!
