Year 5 WC 17th March 2025
Date: 21st Mar 2025 @ 4:50pm
We've had another busy and exciting week in Year 5! Here' what we've been up to:
English:
We finished editing and publishing our character narratives. We have been so impressed with how the children have applied their Sentence Accuracy work in their independent writing- it is wonderful to see the progress in their writing. Next, we've started a new unit where we'll be writing a bargan letter to a thief.
Maths:
We completed our unit on decimal and percentages, focusing on understanding the equivalence between fractions, decimal and percentages.
RE:
We explored how the Easter story shows Jesus as victorious. We then imagined how the news of his resurrection might be shared today- creating Instagram posts and imagining text message interactions between Mary and her friends after discovering the empty tomb.
Guided Reading:
The children had so much fun performing The Jabberwocky. They used actions, tone and intonation to bring the famous poem to life!
Looking ahead to next week...
On Tuesday morning, we will watching a performance of The Jungle Book in the hall which will also include some actors from our Key Stage 2 classes.
On Wednesday we have our long awaited Singfest performance! We hope that many of you will be able to come along and watch. It really is a fantastic experience. We have been asked if children can bring in a pair of sunglasses which they'll keep in their pocket until the sunshine songs. We also need 3 colourful umbrellas so if anyone has one that they don't mind us borrowing, please can you bring it on before Wednesday. Please also have a practise of the songs over the weekend.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
