Year 5 W/b 23.11.20
Date: 28th Nov 2020 @ 8:17pm
The children have been working hard again this week in all subjects.
In maths we have been completing work on perimeter and area. They very much enjoyed making their own shapes with masking tape and finding the perimeter. Next week we will be moving onto multiplying larger numbers using more formal methods.
In English, we have been continuing to analyse biographies and have completed research to write our own next week. It has been fantastic to see this work continuing at home through the homework submitted. I am pleased to see some children have been inspired by Harriet Tubman but it has been fascinating to see some other, equally worthy, choices.
We have been continuing to learn our Carol for the online Carol concert and I think the final version will be fantastic. Additional measures are being taken when singing to help keep everyone safe.
We began our DT work looking at symbols used on quilts to help guide slaves fleeing on the Underground Railroad. The children have been analysing their designs and we will begin sewing our own closer to the end of term.
Finally, a highlight of the week was cracking another safe code! This time children have selected to do some baking. So on Monday afternoon (30.11.20) we will be making and decorating biscuits as well as working with clay in outdoor learning. I'm hoping you have all received an e-mail asking children to bring a long sleeved shirt or top to wear over their uniform for these activities.
Thank you for you continued support.
