Year 5 Percentages
Date: 31st Jan 2015 @ 10:05pm
This week, in maths, we will be focussing on percentages. Children will find equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages. I have attached a set of posters showing these which children could familiarise themselves with.
Children are now getting used to using must should and could targets for each of our weekly topics.
Must (All children will be able to do this by the end of the week)
Should (Most children will achieve this by the end of the week)
Could (Children who feel particularly confident in this area of maths could achieve this by the end of the week)
This week our targets are:
Must: Recognise percentages of coloured shapes, find 50% and 25% of numbers. (Find 50% 0f 20, find 25% of 8)
Should: Find 25,50,75,10 and 1% of numbers, including in word problems. (What is 25% of £9, Would you rather have 75% of £40 of 60% of £60?)
Could: Increase and decrease by percentages (Decrease £600 by 15%)
