Year 4 w/b 2nd December 2024

Date: 13th Dec 2024 @ 4:31pm

The Christmas festivities are certainly underway this week at school! The Three Musketeers was a huge hit at the New Vic theatre and had the children sitting on the edge of their seats. This evening, it was lovely to see so many faces supporting our Christmas Fayre at this magical time of year.

In English, the children have started their new writing outcome this half term, and we were luckily (or unluckily) enough to receive a letter from a chief historian from the Ancient Guild of Monster Hunters who needs our help to write an information text based on a monster hunters guide in order to defeat a Viking Monster.

The children have been using their skills to summarise paragraphs in guided reading, picking out key words and phrases to condense the text into a few coherent sentences.

Maths has been a busy one with math quizzes to check their understanding of multiplication and division. Please keep practising the times tables with your child, which will help them in all areas of math.

With an extra PE slot, theatre, and church visit, we haven’t managed to finish our spelling focus this week, so this will roll over to next week.

We have been thinking a lot about others in worship this week and took time out to think about who in our community we were thankful for. In Monday’s RE, we listened to the story of Papa Panov and talked about in what ways he followed the Christian faith by putting others before himself.
