Year 4 w/b 25th November 2024

Date: 29th Nov 2024 @ 3:55pm

Another fantastic week in Year 4!

In English we have been using our plans from last week to write our own versions of ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’. We have been really impressed with the way the children have remembered the story and have used all the skills they have learnt to vary their sentence structures when writing their stories.

We have been finishing off our Maths unit based on multiplication and division this week. We started the week looking at the 12 times tables, moved on to multiplying and dividing by 1 and finally we have looked at multiplying 3 numbers together. We discovered that you can do this in any order and have been practicing multiplying the numbers we find easiest first.

In Forest school this week the children were challenged to move places in the class circle we had made to be standing next to someone new. They were set a challenge to look to the person on their left and create a gift for them. The children were so creative coming up with all kinds of ideas including bracelets, necklaces, self-portraits and flying hedgehogs just to name a few! The most wonderful part of the lesson was observing the children give each other their gifts and watching their reactions of thanks.

In Geography we continued to look at the River Nile. We focused on the city of Alexandria and discovered how the river Nile impacted the development of the city. We explored what it would be like to visit Alexandria today and created our own diary entry as if we had travelled to Egypt.

In Art the children have been exploring the work by Cas Holmes and have taken inspiration from his work to design their own under the sea textile.

In RE we continued to look at the Christmas story and discussed who was present at the birth of Jesus.

We ended the week with a fantastic singing assembly where the children learnt a new choral and response song an also perfected a partner song. The thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this and participated with enthusiasm.

We look forward to seeing what amazing things you can achieve next week Year 4 as we move into the season of Advent.
