Year 3 WC 5th June 2017
Date: 2nd Jun 2017 @ 4:45pm
I hope you are all enjoying the half term. I put quite a lot of My Maths activities online for this week as some children enjoy these tasks. Please don't feel under pressure to complete all of the work.
I can't believe we are in the final half term of the year...it has flown by! We are certainly not slowing down as there is lots to pack into the next few weeks. In the first week back we have our trip to Chester Zoo and hopefully the weather will be dry (fingers crossed!). Don't forget it is polling day on Thursday so school is closed to pupils. Soon rehearsals for The Sound of Music will be well under way. We have begun to learn the songs so next is my favourite part of choreographing the moves to go with them.
In English this week we will be doing some follow-up work from our Chester Zoo trip, writing non-chronological reports about some of the rainforest animals we'll be learning about.
In maths we are focusing on what tenths are and understanding that they occur when we divide a whole number by 10. Children need to understand both fraction and decimal notation, place them on a number line and count in sequences.
In Science our new topic is plants. This week we'll be learning about the different parts of a flowering plant: what they are called and their function.
Enjoy the weekend and I'll see you all on Monday!
