Year 3 WC 26th September 2016
Date: 26th Sep 2016 @ 9:58pm
This afternoon Key Stage 2 have had a wonderful French afternoon. They've tried some French foods with Mrs Taylor, worked on the IPads with Mr Stanway, played boules with Mr Jones and been challenged to create the tallest Eiffel Tower using just 15 sheets of paper and a roll of masking tape with myself. Thank you to Miss Jeffries for organising such a super afternoon!
This week in maths we are looking at mental strategies for addition and subraction. The homework on My Maths will give the children extra practice at the types of questions we are tackling in class.
This week we are completing our unit on Weslandia with some work on non-chronological reports.
The literacy homework for this week is to search for fronted adverbials in their reading books at home. This is due in on Friday 30th September.
In guided reading today we began reading a newspaper report. Many of the children had not seen the layout of a newspaper report before (especially as so many news stories are now available online). If you have any child-friendly newspaper stories at home, please share them with your child identifying features such as the headline, photos with captions, the fact that they are read in columns and quotations.
We appear to be having quite a problem with uniform (jumpers in particular) going missing. The children are encouraged to take responsibility for their belongings and are allowed to put their jumpers in their lockers during the day to avoid them getting lost. Any jumpers that are left in the classroom, stay in the classroom and if named, are reunited with their owner. Please can I ask that everyone checks that the jumpers they have at home belong to them as it easily happens when getting changed for PE jumpers can get mixed up.
Don't forget our Harvest Festival at St Oswalds is next Friday 7th October.
