Year 3 WC 21st November 2016

Last week we had a very interesting (any messy) Science lesson investigating soils. We looked at different types of soils and tried to describe what they looked and felt like. Ask your child how soil is formed and why it is so important. I'm sure they will be able to tell you lots of interesting facts from our lesson! 

This week we are beginning our new Talk for Writing text, Beowulf, joining with Year 4 for this unit. Mr Stanway and I are confident that the children are going to enjoy the story and we're really looking forward to teaching this over the next few weeks. On Thursday we will be having a Beowulf day which will include some drama, writing and animations on the IPads. 

In maths this week we are focusing on multiplying two digits by a single digit using the grid method. 

In RE we are going to be discussing the Christmas story, reading the different versions of the story in Matthew and Luke's gospels. We will compare these by looking at the similarities and differences, then begin to consider why there might be different versions of the same story. 

Friday is our Christmas Fair and Year 3 are responsible for running the sweetie jar stall. I would be very grateful if any parents would be willing to come forward and offer their assistance for any length of time from 6:30pm onwards. Please grab me on the yard or pop a note in your child's planner with the time you can help. Thank you :)
