Year 3 WC 13th February 2017
Date: 11th Feb 2017 @ 8:48pm
I can't believe we're in our final week of this half term. It has certainly gone quickly!
This week in Maths, we will be doing statistics which will include presenting and interpreting data in different types of tables and charts.
In Literacy we are studing the poem 'At the Seaside'. We'll be performing the poem in groups, completing comprehension work on it and studying the lanaguage choices and their effect on the reader.
This week is our final lesson of our forces unit in science. The children will be completing their own research in groups about the use of magnets in real life, deciding how they want to record this information and then presenting it to the class. After half term we'll be moving onto light for our next topic.
Last week we looked a little more in depth at the Roman's invasion of Britain. Following on from our literacy unit on newspaper reports, the children will be applying these skills to their topic work by writing a newspaper report about Julius Caesar's attempt of gaining control on Britain.
I was really pleased the quality of the newspaper reports that the children wrote for their homework last week. The children went to a lot of effort and many of them commented on how much they enjoyed doing them.
Please can I remind children to please record in their planner when they read at home. We are aiming for four times a week and they receive 5 team points when they achieve this. This can be reading independently which they can record themselves in their planner and a parent can sign it at the end of the week.
