Year 3 w.b 16.09.24
Date: 20th Sep 2024 @ 1:04pm
What an amazing week of learning we've had in Year 3; it has been filled with discussing what makes us a good friend, writing super story setting descriptions and continuing our learning comparing numbers to 1,000. Thank you for your support with homework and reading. Homework will be marked on Monday and will go out again that evening.
This week in Egnlish we have been writing some fantastic setting descriptions, describing the journey of the river, including a scene with lots of African animals and a thundering waterfall!
In Maths, we have been using number lines to 1000 and comparing numbers and ordering them up to 1000.
In PSHE, we thought about the special people/relationships that we have in our lives. We discussed what it makes us feel good about our special people and how we make them happy too. Finally, we became reporters and asked each other questions about our friendships. In PE, we have been passing and controlling a football and then we put this into practice in mini matches!
In history, we have been continuing to look at the Industrial Revolution, specifically at the invention of the steam engine, while in RE we have looked at the prophet Moses. In Computing we began to look at how a file would travel around a network. We attempted to recreate the wires or wireless system using tape to join the devices
In art, we learnt that Claude Monet painted several series of nearly 100 impressionist oil paintings of different views of the Thames River in the autumn of 1899 and the early months of 1900 and 1901 during stays in London. We focused on one of his paintings and used oil pastels to emulate the river and sky. We used white to add tint and dark colours to add shade.
Have a wonderful weekend.
