Year 3 w.b: 07.10.24

Date: 10th Oct 2024 @ 5:05pm

What an absolutely amazing week we've had, it has been filled with learning the column method in maths, netball footwork and passing in PE, finding out more about the Industrial Revolution and creating the most incredible caracitures in the style of Claude Monet.  However, the highlight has to be our Learning Exhibition and showing you all what we have been up to in class.

Thank you for the fantastic research that you have helped with at home- we have already started to plan and write the first paragraph of our information text using these facts! In Maths, we have used the column method with 3 digit numbers and have now practised addition and subtraction (without those tricky exchanges!). In our PSHE session, we talked about opinions and the fact that we all gave them. It is ok to differ in opinion with someone else. We can disagree with someone else's opinion politely but we cannot say that they are wrong. We discussed actual facts and what opinions are. In art, we learnt that when Claude Monet was a teenager, he preferred to draw caricatures of his classmates and teachers. We had such fun creating each other in the style of Monet's caricatures. A caricature is a drawing of a person or thing in which the features and form have been distorted and exaggerated. We even added insect bodies to some of our drawings. In Music we have been learning new notes and a new song! In RE, we finished our storyboards about Moses.

What a joy it was on Thursday to share all of our hard work so far in our learning exhibition. I am very proud of how condfidently Year 3 were able to talk about their subjects. We are looking forward to our next one in the Spring term.
