Year 3 class blog w.b. 7th March

Date: 11th Mar 2022 @ 3:32pm

We have had a very interesting start to the half term learning all about the Tudors, among other things! Homework has now started again if you could please encourage completing the weekly tasks; daily reading would also be very worthwhile. Reading for pleasure books have now come home; these are for you to read with your child so they may be a little bit trickier than what they usually come home with, or something a bit different that they just wanted to try.

Maths

Over the past fortnight we have been learning about length, adding, taking away and comparing lengths. We have learnt to compare lengths using mm, cm and m!

English

We have enjoyed our new vehicle text, Starbird and have been writing character descriptions using similes and list poems using effective verbs to show how Starbird felt at different points in the story. We will be moving on to writing a narrative soon using all of our ideas!

Other areas of the curriculum

This week in Science, we have been looking at what humans need to stay alive and to be healthy. We have been looking at the healthy eating plate and considering what nutrients are in food. We compared two meals to see which one was more nutritious.

In history, we have been learning about the Tudors! We found out in our first lesson about which Tudor monarchs ruled in England before moving onto looking at Tudor clothing.

In DT, we have designed Tudor houses, while in forest school we have been making a wall using the Tudor method of wattle and daub (we haven't done the daub bit yet!)

In RE we have been looking at the story of Zaccaeus and the story of the ten lepers in our new salvation unit.

Just a quick reminder that we have our visit to Ford Green Hall next Friday; please send back the letter with your consent if you haven't already. Thank you.

Please let me know if you have any queries.
