Year 3 class blog w.b 17th October
Date: 21st Oct 2022 @ 1:59pm
We have had a fantastic half term and everyone has settled in really quickly to life in Year 3; it was lovely speaking to everyone during consultations to share lots of wonderful news about progress. Thank you for your support with reading, homework and spellings this half term.
Maths
We have been learning how to add 1 digit to 3-digit numbers when they bridge ten e.g. 345 +7, by learning that we add 5 first and then 2. We then added tens numbers to 3 digits e.g. 345 + 70. After this we learned how to do the same subtracting. We took away 1 digit from 3 digits e.g. 324- 6, by taking away 4 first to get to the ten, and then the 2.
English
We have been learning how to write an information text, researching, planning and writing one! I have been absolutely blown away with the quality of writing! We all wrote a wonderful information text about Paricutin, one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
Other areas of learning
In PE, we have recapped on passing in netball and football, and have now moved onto dribbling in football, and footwork in netball: how to stop and pivot.
In Science this week we have been leaning about air resistance and gravity with a very fun experiment involving paper and milk bottles!
We have completed all of our end of unit quizzes in computing, history and science to consolidate all of our learning for the half term.
I have attached some of the lovely pictures of the past couple of weeks, giving you a snap shot of life in Year 3!
If you have any questions, please message on Dojo.
Have a wonderful, restful
