Year 3 Class Blog w/b 13th September
Date: 17th Sep 2021 @ 9:54pm
We have had another busy week of learning in Year 3! Everyone has worked very hard. Homework has now been set and is due in on Monday. Please read daily and ensure children are secure with their 2s, 5s and 10 times tables, before moving onto 3s, 4s and 8s.
Maths
This week we have been continuing to look at place value up to 1000 (3 digit numbers- hundreds, tens and one’s columns). We have started to order and compare numbers.
English
We have been analysing the model text from our unit the Rhythm of the Rain, identifying and using expanded noun phrases, prepositions and conjunctions.
We have now started to answer questions from our key text Oliver and the Sea Wigs, as well as learning new spelling rules.
Other areas of the curriculum
This week in Science, we have been using magnets to identify which materials are magnetic and which are not, following on from our work last week about forces and friction.
In Forest School, we have been making friendship bracelets, while in RE we have been reading and finding out about the Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. In PSHE, we have been thinking about how we can love others and ourselves more.
In Geography this week, we have been learning about rivers and the different parts (the source, the channel and the mouth) as well as how rivers are formed, following on from our work about the water cycle last week. In art, the children have been using pastels to create a landscape with Mrs Taylor.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
