Year 3 class blog 28th March

We have had another fabulous week!

In Maths this week, we have been learning all about mass and weight. We have been using scales, measuring mass, comparing, adding and subtracting mass. We have also begun to look at volume and capacity- the measuring of liquid within a container.

In English we received a letter that had been intercepted in the post. It was for Mama Button from Jemmy. In the letter Jemmy described what he did in England and talked about his emotions. We looked at vocabulary in dictionaries, wrote a paragraph in role as Jemmy and we analysed the letter to see how to write one. Next week, we will be writing our own letters.

In PE, we enjoyed playing rounders. We focused a lot on fielding today and we had a really good go at batting as well. We are really starting to understand the tactics and rules of how to play now.

In our Art lesson this week, we made some beautifully designed Mother's Day cards, while in Computing we continued to learn and use the program Scratch. In Forest School some of the children chose to make something for their Mum, while others enjoyed time with friends and lots of imaginative play.

In Science, we explored the parts of a flower and learned about pollunation and fertilisation.

In RE we looked at the next part of Holy Week where Jesus has the Last Supper with his disciples. Some of the children helped to act out Jesus washing his disciples' feet and the breaking of the bread and sharing or the wine. We thought about how the disciples felt when Jesus washed their feet, when He told them someone would betray Him and when He shared the bread and wine telling them to have this in memory of Him.

Have a great weekend.
