Year 3 blog w.b. 3rd March
Date: 5th Mar 2025 @ 2:25pm
We have had a fantastic week. Thank you for your support with homework and reading at home.
In Maths this week, we have been looking at fractions again. We have been identifying fractions, ordering and comparing them, as well as putting them onto number lines!
In English we have been writing character descriptions, analysing the example text for Year 3 features, creating a writer's toolkit and planning our own return story.
In PE, we practised our fielding skills- throwing underarm and creating a long barrier, before moving onto bowling and batting in rounders. We then played a match with some quite tricky rules! There were lots to remember. In Geography this week, we used maps and atlases to find the capital city and other cities in Italy.
In Music we enjoyed playing our instruments- we now know lots of different notes and songs!
In Science, we have been learning about the four parts of a plant and their function, before investigating what plants need to stay healthy and alive. We also enjoyed using magnets in a range of experiments.
In Forest School we had lots of fun whittling, creating tools like axes, making dens and all sorts of other wonderful ideas with our friends.
We had a fabulous World Book Day where we enjoyed an assesmbly together, before shared reading with Year 6 and writing book reviews and about why we enjoy reading. We also found the Little People, Big Dreams book about Rosa Parks fascinating. There was a real sense of injustice as we heard her story and we considered how she had to be very brave to stand up and fight for something she believed in.
Have a restful weekend.
