We have had a fantastic week in Year 3!
We have been completing reading assessments! If you haven’t been told a new level yet, we will aim to get these out shortly after the holidays as we have started a new assessment this academic year. In Maths this week we continued to look at tricky exchanges in subtraction- any extra work with this traditional column method would be useful as we are just starting to master the process.
In English we finished writing and then publishing our information texts about natural wonders! They are certainly pieces of be proud of!
We were very lucky in history, as Lilah's grandad came to talk to us about the Industrial Revolution. He told us about how salt was an important product and how in Roman times, the soldiers were sometimes paid in salt as it was a very expensive resource. He told us how things were made before factories and how people made their money by making things in their homes which they would sell - these people were called artisans.
We told Mr Roe about how we had learnt about the developments that were made during the Industrial Revolution and he was very impressed with our knowledge of James Watts and the steam engine!
He told us all about life in Britain and what has happened to make it the place that we know today.
In PE, we looked at dribbling skills in football- specifically the inside and outside hook turn. We focussed on little touches to keep the ball under close control and played some fun games to practise such as Ghostbusters and Superheroes & Supervillains.
We also enjoyed a brisk walk down to church for our service with Reverend Sandi. Our first visit this year where the children listened carefully and were very respectful.
Have a lovely, well deserved rest. This half term always feels a long one and I’m sure the children are all tired. Looking forward to seeing you all after half term, re-energised and ready for our Christmas half term!
