Year 3 blog w.b. 20th January

Date: 24th Jan 2025 @ 2:29pm

We have had a fantastic week in Year 3.

In English this week, we have been planning and writing our own fable narrative about a very cunning fox who plays a trick on a magpie! We have been using fantastic descriptive expanded nouns, adverbs and even speech! It has been wonderful to read the stories so far.

In spelling, we have been dropping the y before adding iest and ied e.g. happiest and spied. In guided reading we have been continuing our work on a non fiction text about Rivers and Mountains!

In Maths we have been focusing on multiplication and division. We have been focussing particularly on division- partitioning 2 digit numbers and then dividng them. e.g. 28 divided by 4. First we divide 20 by 4, then 4 divided by 4, then add the answers together. It has been a tricky couple of lessons!

In History we looked at sources- primary and secondary- to see if we thought Henry VIII was a good or bad king based on the evidence we read and saw.

In Art we continued to look at different textures and sketched using different techniques while in PE this week we practised dribbling and passing in basketball, before trying some shooting and playing some matches.

In RE we looked at the story of Zaccheus and wrote a storyboard about his encounter with Jesus, including some sketches to depict what happened.

Have a restful weekend.
