We have had another excellent week full of hard work and fun!
In Maths this week, we have been looking at fractions. We have learnt what numerators and denominators are. We can identify fractions and have also been comparing them. The children have really grasped this which will give them a good basis as we move on to more complex learning in the future.
In English we saw some picture clues: the sea, a jungle and a city; then we saw a top hat, a ship and a monacle. We predicted what we thought the book Jemmy Button may be about. We have then written setting descriptions, simile poems and have explored our new story and its vocabulary.
In PE, we practised our fielding skills- throwing underarm and creating a long barrier (a new skill!). We then had a go at underarm bowling before moving onto batting off a tee. In Geography this week, we started our new unit about London and Rome. Our focus this week was London and its human and physical features. We also found London using different maps.
In Science, we have been experimenting with shadows and changing the size of shadows, while in Music, we have been looking at rhythm with Mrs Porteous.
We thoroughly enjoyed Forest School again and had a marvellous time with our friends. Some of us chose to whittle sticks which was lots of fun!
Have a lovely weekend.
