Year 2 Week Beginning 6th November
Date: 10th Nov 2017 @ 5:06pm
We have had a very busy first week back in Year 2 this week with our remembrance service bringing it to a lovely end. Thank you to all of you who came to watch us!
In English this week we have been writing a recount of our fantastic trip to Nantwich museum. We started off by looking at the features of a recount and then the children wrote their own recount of the trip. It was great to see the amount of detail that they remembered from the day and couldn’t wait to include in their writing!
In Maths this week we have been consolidating our adding of two 2-digit numbers. The children have become much more confident with using only a number line to do this. This is a great technique to have mastered as we move onto subtracting two 2-digit numbers next week.
Another focus this week has been remembrance. As well as practising our poem ‘They are gone’, which we performed in our service, we also learnt about why we have Remembrance Day and what this means. The children enjoyed writing about this on Poppy paper for their Topic books.
Just a reminder that we have our ‘Stay and Make’ afternoon on Monday, we are looking forward to seeing the vehicles that you all make. We have discussed with the children the sorts of materials they might like to bring in, so they are ready and raring to go.
After a very busy week we hope you have a restful weekend ready to continue with our exciting new topics next week!
