Year 2 WC 7th June 2021
Date: 11th Jun 2021 @ 6:42pm
We've had a wonderful start to the last half term in Year 2. We began our week by finding some mysterious eggs in the forest school area which turned out to be dragon eggs. The next day, the eggs had gone but we found some cracked shell...which could only mean one thing! The dragons had escaped! The children wrote some great posters using different sentence types to warn people about the dragons and tell them what to do if they see any. This half term we are using 'The Dragon Machine' as our focus text to inspire their writing.
In maths we finished our unit on division, dividing by 2, 5 and 10 and then some problem solving. We are now moving onto our unit 'Problem Solving using Efficient Methods'. For the next week or two we'll be recapping addition and subtraction strategies and using these to solve problems. The maths homework will be an opportunity to practise and consoldiate these strategies further.
In PSHE we finished our unit 'Fake is a Mistake' by learning about staying safe in the sun. We said that many people want to look tanned but it's important to remember that 'fake is a mistake' and that we should be happy with our own beautful, healthy skin. The children then created posters to inform everyone of sun safety. Our next PSHE topic is called 'No way through isn't true' which we introduced yesterday. This is all about resilience and not giving up when things are tricky.
The class have thoroughly enjoyed their PE lessons this week with Multiflex and Cheshire Cricket. Please make sure that children bring their water bottle into school every day as we only have a limited number of cups in the classroom.
I hope you have a lovely weekend
