Year 2 WC 4th November 2019
Date: 7th Nov 2019 @ 9:55pm
I hope you all had a wonderful half term. This week we have been busy practising for our Remembrance Service on Monday which Year 2 will be leading.
In English we have started our new unit, Jack and the Baked Beanstalk. It started with a huge bowl of baked beans and we had to fish out pieces of the front cover. As we uncovered each piece, the children made predictions about the story and then finally they thought about how it might be similar/different to the traditional version. In the story, Jack has a fast food cafe so the children wrote some fantastic persuasive adverts using adjectives and alliteration.
In maths we have been adding two 2 digit numbers using the column method. We have spent several lessons on this to ensure the children have a really solid understanding: being able to show it with equipment, represent it pictorially and then written methods. Next week we shall we moving on to subtracting two digit numbers.
