It has been wonderful to speak to you this week to discuss how wonderful your children have settled into new school routines this year and are already making super progress. They certainly deserve a break and enjoy some family time this half term.
In English the children have been creating their own species of giant and writing non-chronological reports. They have produced some fantastic work which they have published in their topic books to a high standard. I'm really proud of what they have achieved, as are the children.
In maths we have been continuing with addition and subtraction consolidating their understanding of related facts and comparing number sentences.
In Design and Technology this half term the children have been designing and making their own puppets. They started by looking at different puppets and how they are made. Next they designed their final product and made a prototype. Finally they used felt to make their end product, using a needle and wool to sew down each side. Then they added extras such as googly eyes, hair and mouth. (Photos will follow soon!)
In PSHE we looked at how we can be 'Heartsmart' and use our 'Power on' button to make others feel good. We know we can use our 'power' in different ways: we have the power to make others feel happy, loved, proud but we also have the power to make people feel sad, embarrassed, left out etc. We thought about way we can use our power in a good way and made posters to encourage this.
I hope you all have a lovely half term. I will be popping some reading books on the pupil area so that you can choose some additional books to read. As requested by some parents, I will also be putting some handwriting practice (however these are optional.).
