Year 2 WC 16th September 2019
Date: 20th Sep 2019 @ 12:29pm
Year 2 has been very busy this week. In Maths we have continued with place value. The children have been ordering numbers to 100 and using their mathematical vocabulary to explain how they do this. We then moved onto counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and then onto 3s. Please continue to practise these at home.
In English, we have been retelling the story of Send Me a Superhero as a diary. We tried to use everything we had been learning: using adjectives with the suffixes -ful and -less, conjunctions and the correct verb forms. Next week the children are excited to start planning their own superhero story.
In Science we have been observing our caterpillars. We noticed that they started to crawl to the top of the pot and then today three of them are now hanging from the lid. Hopefully we'll see more exciting changes as the days go by.
In PSHE we are thinking about resilience this half term. We thought about how we deal with situations when we are cross or upset. We looked at some pictures of different animals and thought about which ones we are similar to. For example, do we roar like a lion, or do we freeze like a rabbit? Then we came up with some ideas of how we could control our anger, e.g. take a breath, move away from the situation, say what is wrong, etc.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
